Hi,

Use a steel pot and the gas grill outside, even old coffee can would do.

Have your son do an experiment comparing natural, augmented and
sterile soil flora.

Researchers are finding that sterile soil produces poorer plants. In
nature there is soil flora (bacteria/fungi) that work in simbiosys (?)
with plants. Some bacterias supply nitrogen to plant roots, while some
fungi supply growth hormones and drought tolerance.

Comparing the three (sterile, natural, and augmented) would make a great
experiment.

Later,
Tom
