I just checked the Raintree site
(http://www.raintreenursery.com/catalog/producttype.cfm?
producttype=root)
They used to sell GM61 which was a dwarfing rootstock for cherry,
but they've dropped it, mainly because it came small, so generally
you had to plant it and wait a year to graft to it.
They now have a
Colt Cherry rootstock, which is a "semi-dwarf" - supposedly maintain
tree to 20' - 30'
VSL 2 Cherry rootstock - a hybrid of P. fruiticosa x lannesiana.
Trees can supposedly be maintained at 10' (Supposedly similar in size
to Gisela 5). However it's OUCH! $5 a rootstock (with minor cost
reductions for quantities of 5 and 10).
