You can buy a roll of flexable 4" drain tile a heck of a lot cheaper thaen
the spiral wraps. I cut off about 18 inch lengths and you just have to drop
them over in fall lift them off in spring. No wrapping. For trees with more
branches I slit the lenghts down the side and pop them on. They last for
many many years.

The spiral plastic tree wraps that are sold specifically for fruit
trees work fairly well.
