In my area, we utilize code words depending on the condition of the missing individual since we never know who is listening. Since the media is usually around, we continue to send out teams to make it look like we are still actively searching. Like Una's, depending on the condition of the individual, we try to carefully back out and preserve the scene for LE. One of the great things about living in this area is the availability of training, like crime scene preservation presented by the local FBI office last year.

In New Mexico if we find a body, we back off, call it in, and preserve
the scene. That is, keep everyone away, which can be a lot harder than
you might suppose. We then wait hours for a public safety officer and
a medical examiner to arrive and do their forensic work. At this point
we may be dismissed, or asked to stand by to transport the body to the
trailhead.
