Chris

Our team is a member of the Virginia Search & Rescue Council and it may worth while to visit their Conference Page for the 2009 Virginia SAR Conference <http://vasarco.net/VASARCO/TrainingOpportunities/SARConference.htm>  They had dozens of courses offered at the State-wide SAR event.  Although they had 4 equine related classes, most of our team members attended without horse so they could focus on the learning experiences of specialty SAR tactics and not worrying about tending to their horses.  I facilitated four courses over the SAR weekend, so I was not able to to take everything in, but thought this year's conference planners did an excellent job.

Our team is also a member of the Pennsylvania SAR Council and we had team representation at that conference too. Since I was not at that event myself,  I will try and locate the schedule of classes, events and comments from a team member who did attend.  I wanted to go to the PSARC Conference but was deployed to the Knight Search on the Appalachian Trail (325 square mile search area, ICP near Buena Vista, Virginia).

Out of curiousity- if you were provided with the opportunity to haul your horses and gear to a weekend conference/seminar/training on MSAR what would you want to learn/practice/ study while there? What would be most beneficial to YOU as an individual searcher? What would be most beneficial to your TEAM? We just finished our 4th annual CountyWide MSAR training and I am trying to solidify some ideas for next year and looking for input in general.

Thanks,
Chris
