Hi, I also live in California. I'm a teacher
and was surprised the first time I was called out on a school day. I put
in for personal leave (I've only used 2 in 13 years so I have plenty), but when
my papers came back the district had put it down under community service and I
wasn't docked pay or sick days. I thought that was pretty cool. A
friend works for a national insurance company and they are very lenient
also. So it seems to depend on the size of the company and the ability of
the company to release an employee. I'm alwasy impressed with how much
most companies want to help out in any way they can.
