Well, let's see. I pay $350/rent, which includes the horse and myself, don't
know the breakdown, having him right out the back door... priceless. Farrier
costs range from $65 for new with borium to $45 for resets, and $20 for
trims, my previous farrier was $70 a shot, new and reset, $30/trim. Feed: I
pay $2/bale for small squares of mixed grass hay, feed 1# of omolene a day
because my mount needs Thyro-L, otherwise would be straight hay and pasture,
So the meds, $30/mo, the feed I think $14/bag. In summer I ad horseshoers'
secret hoof supplement, $23/tub. Vet visits vary, shots are generally
$150-200, don't do my own, and the vet may start requesting combat pay. (Any
advice on making a horse a good patient appreciated off list) Saddle, I ride
a Circle Y Arab equitation saddle for everything, fits both of us to a T.
Bit, used to use a nice myler, but after a tack malfunction on a pleasure
trail ride, and finishing in a halter and reins with no issues... switched to
a full cheek snaffle and haven't looked back. Equipment I carry with me:
multi-tool, duct tape, old tshirt, vetwrap, variety of first aid items for
bleeding, pain and stings, power food for me, treat or 2 for horse, water,
matches, whistle, extra compass, batteries for GPS, GPS, radio, cell phone,
and a few other miscellaneous items.

Hi Kathie,

The post to which you are replying is on a list named MSAR-Riders,
which is a general discussion list for MSAR.

The list that is dedicated to working on MSAR standards is named
MSAR-ASTM.

Hope this helps,
