Subject: [MSAR] Help MSAR-Riders help ibiblio.org

Dear MSAR-Riders subscribers,

Since 2002, this mailing list, MSAR-Riders, and its companion
MSAR website have been hosted entirely "for free" on a very
classy web server, ibiblio.org. Ibiblio.org is applying for
a National Award for Library Service and toward that end the
staff of ibiblio.org have asked me and others to write letters
of recommendation to be included with their application.

Although these MSAR resources on ibiblio.org are not a library
collection in the usual sense (at least, not yet), I think we
as a volunteer SAR community are doing great things here, and
I would like to provide an outstanding letter of recommendation.
So, what I would like from each of you is this:

A. Your name
B. Your office or position in your MSAR unit, if any
C. Your unit's name
D. Where it is based and/or what region it serves (county,
state)
E. How many people in your unit
F. A brief statement of how (if) the MSAR website including
MSAR-Riders has helped you and/or your unit.

I will collate the results and write an overview statement
about what MSAR is, who we are, what we do, and why we do it.

Post your bit to MSAR-Riders or send to me directly, your choice,
but please send it! (I encourage you to post it to the list,
because that would also help you improve your networking with
other MSAR units in your region.)

Thanks!

Una

PS, more background: The National Award for Library Service
is sponsored by the Institute of Museum and Library Services
(http://www.imls.gov/grants/library/lib_nals.htm), and honors
outstanding American libraries that have made extraordinary
contributions to their communities. Ibiblio.org would be the
first exclusively digital library to win one of these awards.
