48's (48 cells per standard 1020 flat, either 6 x 8 or 4 x 12 packs). McEnroe organic potting soil. Works fine.

I've done only winter squash and pumpkins, as I have good results from direct seeded cucumbers and summer squash; but I don't see any reason why the same transplant method wouldn't work for those also.

I started starting summer and winter squash in large peat pots several years ago. It seemed to be the only way I could have reasonable transplant success.

I've seem to be hearing that other people have success transplanting squash started in 50's plastic trays.

Boy, would that same me a lot of time, potting soil and dollars!

Anyone have luck doing squash transplants from 'small' cell plastic trays? And cucumbers, too?

Thanks
