I haven't grown cut flowers, but one grower who sells them in Tulsa (Cherry Street) can get good prices for her tuberose and it sells out extremely quickly. She just sells it by the stem & even people who buy bouquets of other flowers buy a stem or two of tuberose for the heavenly scent. It always attracts attention as customers walk through the market with it, too! She had it this (hot, dry) summer, but I can't tell you anything about growing it. My customers seem to prefer mixed bouquets, and when I've got larkspur I don't have much else. I've tried bachelor buttons, buplereum, and agrostemma for early flowers and while they grow great here, no one wants to buy. Snapdragons sell fine, as long as they are in a mixed bouquet. |
