Despite your claim of making every attempt to refrain from politics on this forum, this doesn't sound like you're trying too hard!
"Sounds like one of those 67,000 or so teabaggers that the mainstream corp owned media keeps telling us is a meaningful force.
Just another racist gov hater who wants pavement, electricity, SS and national security but thinks we can have it w/o government or taxes."

You could have said everything else and your comments would have had credibility. Now, not so much. Give it a rest.

I am in total agreement with Bill.
I found this program in December of '09 on the web and at that time my local NRCS office knew nothing about it. By March '10 they were in the loop.
As I understand it, this program is intended to quantify the impact of hoop house growing on small farmers.  I don't believe though that there are any restrictions on the size of farm that qualifies. Also, it doesn't matter if you already have a hoop house, as I did. We also have folks in our area who have received more than one though they had to apply and go through the process one at a time. As I understand it the three reports and their cumulative info will eventually be in a published report.
I have never heard one word about " It was supposed to be a “grow your own food”
program for non-farmers by the Obama" and am quite confident that is simply NOT true. .
I am making every attempt to refrain from politics on this forum but there is zero doubt in my mind that this greenhouse seller does not understand the program or it's intended mission. Sounds like one of those 67,000 or so teabaggers that the mainstream corp owned media keeps telling us is a meaningful force.
Just another racist gov hater who wants pavement, electricity, SS and national security but thinks we can have it w/o government or taxes.

It was intended to facilitate the development of locally grown food and stimulate local economies, not a "grow-your-own program for non-farmers". And I do believe that a set of three annual reports is a fair request of those who have been given such grants. My understanding is that the cumulative set of information developed by these reports will give NRCS a strong database for understanding how much impact protected structures like high tunnels can have on empowerment of local agriculture. The fact that the program was given room for discretion at state and local levels should be a sign that the program was not intended to be a top-down management program. If the program was not given such local discretion, I'm sure there would be many who would blow their tops over that.
