I use my tiller as little as possible since tines and repair parts for Howard
Rotavators are very expensive.
A plow and disc harrow are very cost effective. Though most light duty discs
are easily torn apart they can easily be repaired with the help of a good
welder... Bob.

I used to use a ~48" tiller on a 25hp tractor. But, only at 1-2 mph
ground speed. It worked well on sandy or pre-plowed ground. Normally
had to make several passes to get full depth of 6"-7" and pulverized
soil. Tines had a short life of a season or two; I judged disking to
be more cost effective and retired the tiller.
