I sell mine for $3.00 a pound. i was selling Ailsa Craig sweet onions for $2 a pound partly because in the past at $2.50 a pound they were slow sellers and partly because over 50% of them were 1/2 pound or larger. they flew off the table and we have sold all but 2 pounds. the reds and yellows go for $3 a pound for larger sized and $3 for a 3/4 pound box of "pearl" onions (which is around $4 a pound). the Pearls are onions that are on the small side but too big for sets. We always try to grow sets for spring planting and early onions by direct seeding a couple of beds, not thinning and not weeding all that well. About half are set sized and the rest are pearl sized with a few getting into medium onion sized. I am also in the greater Cincinnati/Dayton area Lucy Goodman Boulder Belt Eco-Farm Eaton, OH |
