August is rough in this part of the country too! We had three or four 18 foot car trailers stacked high with melons at one of my markets last week. When the market was over, it didn't look like they sold many, but I know they did. I am ok with a slower August, it gives me down time to get everything planted for the fall/winter and gives me time to start school back up again. September rolls around and things are growing again and I can keep up. In August I push my jellies much harder. When I have alot of produce, they are in the back corner, available, but not pushed hard. In the fall, I give samples and set out 20-30 jars and set up a larger display. I guess it works, because I sell lots of jelly during this time.
