We can, and do grow southern peas. If the yard long beans taste like peas,
then they will sell. It would be nice to actually have something on the
market tables this time of year.
I got a chance to walk through our market Saturday morning, and we have a
glut of watermelons and cantaloupes. Truckloads. Out of the 30 or so vendors
we have nearly everyone of them had a table full of melons and not much else.
So, I'm doing my usual August thing of what can I grow to keep my tables
full? Something other than melons?
We had okra, tomatoes, a tiny bit of squash, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant,
and potatoes, southern peas, and very small amount of green beans that we are
trying to grow under shade cloth.
I think I hate August.
