Dave,

Can you explain a little on how the guidance system works in your setup?  Are the guide wheels riding on the edges of raised beds?  Are you marking the planting rows with the Williams also?

I have a Williams also and love it for young plantings (blind cultivation) but have not been able to get that close to plants with sweeps/side knives as I suspect I might be able to with a guidance system.

Did you buy the guidance system directly from Bezzrides?

Thx,

Frank

John, That’s why I put the Bezzerides guidance system on it. Now it’s good to within 2” of the row, if you laid out the rows with the same tool. Unlike the market farm guidance system the Bezz uses no extra land; its more expensive but not as expensive as land you take out of production.

I bought one, the smaller one, and it takes time to use, a lot of tinkering. I do not have perfectly flat ground, and I get too much mvmt still when I try to tine the finickier crops.  I would not recommend the expenditure, but as I said, I am still learning how to use it. They never sent me a video showing how they use it specifically.

I also have a farmall with the underbelly cultivars.  One row is a piece of cake, but two or three is difficult.

I find the best, is to have  a lot of sharp Real scuttle hoes, lots of apprentices, a furrower on the wheel hoe, and scratch and hoe early as possible. I also time my hoeings with the BD calendar.

I do 5-8 acres for CSA on Vancouver Island

Best, John
