has been awarded any hoophouse grants yet. What are folks thoughts on the
matter now that we know what's what.
The deadline in Maine is February 19. Decisions will be made by February
28.

$3.75 sq ft here. No electric, heat, storage, buckets. We can leave them
covered. We had 120" of snow the last two winters and had no problems with
1.66 od steel and two layers of poly.
Josh, it's 31*, no wind and a clear sky
here today. It was 70* inside one of the tunnels at 2 pm. I pulled
carrots and cut lettuce this afternoon. The ground is frozen about 11" in. I'm in USDA
zone 4/5.

difference. Does that mean I could have 50 degree temps in winter in Z 6 in my
hoop buildings?

in the running for the NRCS program here in Wyoming. Since we are
"Beginning Farmers" we qualify for a rate of $3.30/sq ft. We will be
allowed to keep the structure up year 'round if we can provide a guarantee from
the manufacturer that it is safe from wind and snow. It would not behoove
us to take it down as we wouldn't be able to put the plastic on until at least
May which does not provide any season extension benefits.
I'll be
meeting with NRCS this week and I will ask about double plastic and inflation
which is beneficial in our part of the country. We already have one 30x48
hoophouse set up this way which has not been impacted by the snow or wind.
Still have spinach from last fall. Even when it's minus 30 outside, it's
only dropped to 17 above under the spinach blankies.
