I, too, have found that spinach doesn't last long unless stored in a
freezer. One year maybe, probably not two. Freezing helps a great
deal.

I've been reading with interest about transplanting spinach. I've
always considered a spinach plant to be too low in value to justify the
cost of dealing with transplants. Like corn, carrots, peas, beans,
various other greens.
