In addition to good fertility, good staking, good mulch,
good moisture.... folks are usually dealing with tomato
diseases which can get severe in some locations.

A few different aggies that I know have found smashing
good results with High Grove tunnels and/or any regular
hoop house that is opened on the sides.

The overhead protection prevents rain splashing on soil
and leaf surfaces, it's a simple environmental modification
that has juiced up organic tomato production... the same
way plastic mulches and drip irrigation jazzed up veggie
production some 40 years back.

I'm passing this along in case you're interested. Check
out the hoop house field trials for summer tomatoes by
Ted Carey at K-State.

Fyi, the next trend seems to be "seawater" and its cousins....
and the mineral balancing and biology combinations that jump
up Brix.

The three "J's"
