I did a second planting one year, and those were tough by the time they got big enough to harvest. I don't know whether this was something about the weather that time of year, or if it was a day-length factor. If the latter, they might only give good greens in the spring (and maybe again later in the fall, I don't know.) You might try some small plantings at various times of the year to see what happened.
Other people who grow these, have you tried them later in the year?
