Pat - It w.b. great to know what date you planted out, what the highs and lows were between then and June 8 (GEESH!), what variety you grew, what the soil temps were, and so on. THANKS! -Allan

I've had ripe tomatoes on June 8 (in a Zone-4-ish climate).
I started them early. I grew them in a container, but I
could have warmed the soil in the ground (with clear or
black plastic on top), then planted them in the ground, with
wall-o-waters to protect them.
Most people in our area don't have ripe tomatoes until very
late July into August.
