Barb,
I am market manager and vendor at a 3 year old growers only market in Cheyenne, WY. The market committee carries a basic liability policy, about $500.00 cost for the season. This does not cover products, it just covers the committee in case someone gets hurt or there is a lawsuit for any reason. We charge a straight 5% fee to vendors with ni minimum. The first year the committee had to pay for insurance and advertising out of our own pockets but we were paid back by not having to pay fees until we were reimbursed for our contribution. We do not lease our lot. The owner lets us use the space. The only thing we must do is name him on the liability policy. We make sure we thank him and his business in our advertising several times a year and we always give him a gift basket of products from the market. We have people that make from $100 to $1000 in a day, it just depends on what they have to sell.
Hope this helps!

Those of you who sell at market...what sort of insurance does the market
carry? Is it purchased through stall fees or is it provided by the owner of
the lot? Do any of you lease your lot? If so, what sort of deal do you have
with the owner? I'd also be interested in knowing what everyone pays per
stall at their respective markets and what sort of money do you make in a
day?
