Don't know about Mass. at all. Generally, poor soil can be turned into
healthy soil with a little time and knowhow. Leaving it as poor soil would
obviously defeat your efforts. Growing in healthy soil can be far more
productive, trouble free, and less costly than depleted soil or soil
lacking essential micronutrients, minerals, microbes, structure, and tilth.
Those having trouble making enough profit to cover their costs and efforts
might look to their soil condition first, then to other factors such as
location, marketing, varieties, seasonal planning, and so forth.
