Are you talking about the notched seed plate in the bottom of the seed
hopper?.

Some are plastic some are metal. Yes they will work to some degree but two
things may happen one is the plates will grind down minutes into use the
second
is the fertilizer will bridge over the plates after the bottom layer of
fertilizer has moved out. I think you will be disappointed in the end...Bob.
