Anyone care to say what the ballpark costs for these tillers are? And
whether the apparent extra cost for BCS is worth it? I 'googled' BCS
tillers and it appeared that the costs were quite a bit more than
TroyBilt. (somewhere like $1299 for low end of BCS, while a TroyBilt
Bronco was around $699 if I remember correctly .. which is doubtful
right now)

BCS are two wheeled tractors with a pto. They come in a wide variety of HP from 5 HP on up to 22 HP. You can put all sorts of attachments on a BCS from tillers to mowers to bailers, etc. I haven't checked prices in years but they are expensive ($2,500 to $10,000) but they are an excellent quality and versatile piece of equipment

We paid around $3500 for a 14 HP BCS with an acme engine (better engine than Kohler or B&S) and a tiller box and sickle bar mower about 7 years ago. We got another one at an auction for under $250, though it has some problems, it came with good tiller box, a plow, a bed shaper and a transport wheel and those items alone were worth $250. Our BCS's get a lot of use tilling and mowing on our farm
