My apologies in that case. I didn't get that impression
from your prior posts - I'm *very* glad to hear it too. I
thought you were leaping into growing for market without
prior gardening experience, and that worried me.

I understand what you are saying about the little plants not
growing directly in soil in the 8" deep box - but I still
wouldn't put my seedlings in something that deep unless it
was filled with soil near to the top.

If you've done it before with success, though, then it
doesn't sound as if it's very likely to have been the
problem.
