I used to have great piles of peach tree prunings once a year, every
year. I think most peach growers chop them in place with a ~$5K flail
mower. Some years, I would chop them with a regular shredder/mower;
one year, I hauled them out of the orchard and chipped them with my 3pt
chipper; one year, I rented a bigger chipper with a power feed. The
big chipper worked fine, but I still had the job of hauling them out of
the orchard or at least to a limited number of chipping locations.
Some years, I hauled them to vegetable fields and burned them there. I
probably would have been better off investing early on in a flail
mower.
