Try $ 4.29 / lb or $ 3.89 / lb.
Even dollar amount prices (e.g., $ 4.00, $10.00, etc.) are
perceived as higher than other prices by consumers.
Don't ask why -- nobody seems to know -- that is why
you see so many prices ending in nines.
Wal-Mart has made a science of odd cent pricing and
is very successful, in part because of consumer perceptions
about their prices.
If you sold out at $ 4.00/lb, try $ 4.29/lb next time and see
what happens. There are all kinds of ways to maximize
revenue.
BTW, pricing by the ounce will strike your consumers
as higher than your "high" poundage rates. Stick with
pound pricing.
