I bury my cages (reinforced concrete) up to the first square them push in 3-4 tent stakes (9-12 inches) over the wire. I have no problem with them blowing over. I then wrap them with preforated plastic to act as a greenhouse.

Mary, I also am in zone 5. Do you just wrap the sides and how long do you leave the plastic on? How early do you set them out? How far apart are your rows and how far apart do you plant them in the rows? Do you think that would work with peppers too? What a neat idea!
