Del, you've confused me a bit here. Have you been speaking of more
than one market? As I recall, you described one market that had a
waiting list for membership; you had a 25 seller limit with a waiting
list and, when a vacancy occurred, the other sellers had to vote in a
new one. Above, you describe a market that has at least one empty
stall at least half the time.

Can you characterize for me again the sellers at your market(s)? Do you
have any what I will term "legitimate" farmers, those that refuse to
resell? I can't imagine "legitimate" farmers leaving a regular
established market to flit around to festivals and such. Unless they
were doing very poorly at the market.

In our markets, seasons change, crops come and go, crops thrive, crops
fail, very few of our legitimate farmers can manage the supply
necessary to attend markets continuously. The other farmers don't
expect it and the customers don't expect it, though they may well be
thrilled to see a new crop come in. On the other hand, your climate
is likely to be more even and predictable than ours.
