Someone mused about the height a deer will jump.
Too easily...4'
Easily...6'
A running start...8'
Well-motivated...10'+
For those unacquainted with deer behavior...
1. They have to know the fence is there. Don't put a fence line smack up
to the forest line or right next to the road. Give them space to walk
around.
2. They don't like new things nor do they like to be startled. That's
where the pie plates and tinfoil strips and peanut butter come in.
3. The scent of humans - barber shop hair, urine - gives them pause to be
circumspect and a desire to keep movin'.
