We have two '70s vintage pickup trucks paid for, terrible MPG but only used
for gathering soil amendments etc. close by. Others aren't so lucky and must
make payments on farm pickups nobody wants on a trade in.

What do people do when they need that pickup but can't afford the payments,
or worse have the pickup (and payments) and can't afford the gas?

"With the trade-in value of trucks and SUVs plummeting, the companies are
left with huge write-offs on vehicles returning from lease. Meanwhile, repeat
customers are being kept out of the market because they don't have enough
equity in their old trucks to buy new ones."
