My hay guy can see the organic fields from his farm. (Klamath Falls is pretty flat)  He says that none of the "organic" hay from Klamath Falls is really organic because of the wind drift there.  And he watches them spread conventional poultry litter on their fields as well as other conventional products.  If you are putting conventional imputs on your fields then really how can you call it organic?

This still wouldn't work.  If you are a organic farmer that uses no pesticides/herbicides, but your neighbor uses them and the wind blows your way while he is spraying then your fields can become contaminated too and you might not ever know about it.

I would like to know what Herbicides are being used on
these hay fields.  I have read about several farms
which have composted manures and used hay as a mulch -
only to have their crops destroyed from the herbicide
residue that has passed into the manure and remains
active through digestion and/or composting.  There
needs to be specific regulations regarding these
horrible chemicals and a way to trace the movement of
these shipments.
