I recently read a book called "Weedless Gardening" that offers a pretty easy no-till method. I am trying this method on a bed of brassicas this year. I double dug the garden beds with clay soil (once) and feel it was valuable but I have not bothered with other beds (different location) that are in sand. I try to keep something growing or a mulch cover on the beds all the time.
