USA : Organic Exchange events in Cape Town, June 18-23
April 27, 2007
Africa is a major production area of organic ingredients for apparel, food, home and beauty products as well as the location of many high quality manufacturers of textile, apparel, home, food and beauty products.
Brands and retailers including Aveda, Coop Switzerland, Marks & Spencer, and Woolworths South Africa are offering their customers a growing variety of certified organic and fair trade products from Africa.
Organic Exchange and Woolworths South Africa cordially invite you to join us for a series of meetings focused on expanding the production and use of organic fiber and food crops in the region. For more information and to register, please visit our website.
June 18: Farm Development Meeting : With a focus on organic farming projects sharing best practices, learning about business development opportunities, management skill development and strategies for linking into committed, fair, sustainable and transparent value chains for food and fiber crops, we expect participants from 15-20 farming projects in Africa and India to attend.
This meeting is sponsored by ICCO, Martin Fabert Foundation, Nordstrom and Woolworths South Africa.
June 19-June 20: Africa Regional Meeting and Marketplace: Participants will look at the global organic cotton market, the competitive position of Africa and explore next steps in developing an "Organic Africa" strategy.
Training sessions will focus on issues across the chain on costs, certification, labeling, transparency and sourcing organic cotton fiber through fabrics.
This meeting is sponsored by Cieltex, Frame Textile Group, Gregory Knitting Mills, Monviso, Nordstrom, Pratibha Syntex Limited, Shell Foundation and Woolworths South Africa.
June 21-June 22: Leading Change Learning Session: These working sessions will provide an in-depth learning session for brands, their manufacturing partners and farming partners to learn how to make organic and fair trade projects work for all parties in the supply chain. This meeting is sponsored by Aveda, Shell Foundation and Woolworths South Africa.
This session is open to a limited number of participants and is by invitation only. If you are interested in participating in the event, please contact Kathleen Wood or Rebecca Calahan Klein. Organic Exchange
