That old saying about corn being knee high by the 4th of July is just that....an old saying.  Illinois corn is much higher than your knees by July 4th.  The old varieties were shorter I guess.

What I meant was that when the corn is knee high on the 4th of July the corn in Texas is harvested...or close to it.
