Hello Mitch,

We live in the south of NM and it is hot, dry, and
alkaline here also. We have bumper crops of greens and
other veggies with the methods that we use.
Along with mulching and close spacing, we have 50%
shade cloth covering all beds, wind breaks to the
windward side of our garden, use EM1 and EM Bokashi to
help release locked up nutrients and bring the ph back
into balance, and have an intense program to improve
our soil.
We have a healing center here and depend on what we
grow for most of our meals and nutrition. Also, we
grow wheatgrass, buckwheat and sunflower lettuce, and
sprouts to supplement the garden.
