The point is true, though, that corporations are not evil, per se, much like guns.  They are a powerful tool, and in the hands of singular persons, small groups of people unencumbered by consequences, well, then they are a terror. I dunno what proportion of us on this list have looked upon the connivance of corporate leaders with great ill favor. I'll bet on a majority.

What can be most devastating about them is not that they are a collective power, but that they are without collective control.  Neither the community nor the employees control the ethics or actions of the corporations, but rather must bend their own minds and soul to accomidate that ethics- free environ.  It is dismaying, but quite true, the people are invested in the good of the company and of the society that it has produced.  They are invested in listening to the statements made, the propaganda issued,  And while you would think that education would defend us, the truth is that the more we read and listen to propaganda, without being prepared by more critical thinking and realities, the more we will believe.

This is a very disagreeable fact, well-proven, but sickening to the individuals, to the function of the corporation and to the society it is permitted to pervade.  Individuals within these corporations must either buy into the propaganda to work with any happiness, or work in unhappiness, a miserable existence of discontent.

I think this is why I like small towns, farming communities, worker owned corporations, intentional communities and the like.  These also are corporate, sometimes stubborn... well frequently so, and individualistic.  They might be led astray by false information and propaganda, but not willingly and not having an investment in staying that way.

Yours, Pego
