The biggest difference in Hay and straw is the fact that hay is cut green
while most everything is still in it and straw is cut after the plant has
matured and died. When a plant matures and dies the sap runs back to the
ground and takes most everything with it. Hay is cut green and cured to
retain the food value in it. Straw isn't
