Job Title: Database Analyst
Job Description: Primary responsibilities include design support,
development,
implementation, modification and maintenance of local
and web-based database applications. The incumbent will work within a
team
environment for system design and implementation and will be
responsible for application development, modification and maintenance.
Most of the data is in non-electronic form.

The database manager
will need to work with both federal and state agencies to convert this
data in a form that can be stored in a SQL Server database. Review
present data structures and make recommendations on how to store this
data more efficiently. Re-design current databases that are in Lotus
Notes, MS Access, Excel into a standard format in SQL Server. Many of
these databases will have to be converted into a form that can be
stored in a SQL Server database.

Design and develop database
systems of varying size and complexity to be utilized in a standalone
and network based computer environment. Develop and implement
distributed data interfaces for database systems capable of deployment
across the APHIS intranet. Develop user interfaces compatible with a
variety of data sources including remote field data collection units.
Interfaces must be easy to use and require minimum of user
intervention. Develop safety and security features to ensure data
integrity. Convert existing data from various sources including but
not limited to MS Excel and Lotus Approach. Provide user training on
all aspects of the developed systems from data input to report
production.

Train key individuals and database managers on database
technical construct, functionality and operation. Provide
comprehensive user manuals, and in-depth database reference tools, and
source code to developed application. Providing Associate Database
Support (Microsoft Access, Lotus,Domino, and Visual Basics.
