Frontline and Advantage work great! But they don't always work immediately. They kill fleas and ticks that bite your animals, keeping them from laying eggs and, after a few months -- no more fleas. (If you have deer near your house you will still get occasional ticks.) You can speed the process along a bit with Sevin dust on your pets bedding and in areas where your pets sleep. Dust it around your yard and use it sparingly inside as well. To use it inside you sprinkle it on, let it sit for an hour and vacuum it up. Keep your pets away until you have vacuumed. It's a bit hygroscopic and tends to be easier to vacuum up on days with low humidity.

Easy. Advantage or Frontline -- available from your vet. It's a once-a-month topical treatment that kills all fleas.

All my life I've seen flea collars in the stores, and I continue to try them once in awhile, convinced that my memory must be wrong if they are still in the stores. But I've never seen them work. I seen many dogs and cats with new flea collars, and the fleas are still on them. Does anyone have secret solutions for fleas, and/or input on flea collar effectiveness?
