I had a friend who recently graduated from Duke Divinity School - he's an
uber Christian, but in the sense of the purest respect for his religion
and its tenets. He's gay, liberal (for what it's worth) and thinks
employing irreverent scenarios in order to get his classmates to think
outside their religion box is a Good Thing(tm). Yes, he was out when he
was at Duke and would challenge his classmates to consider him as a
worshipful Christian. I don't know the details about Duke's course of
study, but I think your brush strokes there are a little broad.

Of course it also depends on the person as to what he/she is going to get
out of a course of religious, service-oriented study. I think some of the
people at smaller divinity schools would have their heads explode if they
were somewhere larger and more diverse (like Duke).
