If you did your research you'd know the French govt offered incentives to
companies who decreased weekly hours in order to hire more workers and
reduce the unemployment rate there.
So, it's not like the French are getting a 40-hr week pay equivalent to a
US salary - they're not - but they are getting jobs in the process.
Of course, your company could opt not to cut weekly hours to 35 and you'd
not receive the benefits (I believe mostly tax cuts).
