That's true. I never said the word conspiracy.

What Mr. Brock says might be true. I haven't read his book, so I can't
say much about it. But I would suggest that the fact that he lied
previously for money should have great deal of influence on whether you
believe his current work. This guy lied for money...he admits his
previous writings are fiction...so I think I would take his current work
as fiction also.

He's not the only source for this information. The leaked memos from Newt Gingrich and Carl Rove describing the overall strategy of how to smear their opponents by fabricating stories are the blueprints for the footsoldiers of misinformation such as Rush Limbaugh and the American Spectator.

On the other hand you can choose to believe that the same conservative "news organizations" that spread hundreds of false stories that are easily refuted by simple fact checking practice legitimate journalism, but the more believable explanation is they are deliberately misinforming the public. Whether they are spreading lies in coordination with Carl Rove or they came up with the strategy on their own is beside the point.

Just because one reporter manufactured stories doesn't mean the entire
segment did.

I never said they did. What I do accuse all journalists of doing is not checking their facts adequately.

Typical stories include blaming Clinton for
orchestrating a killing spree that claimed nearly 40 lives, and using
the CIA to smuggle duffle bags full of coke to satiate his enormous
drug habits.

Sort of like the stories about Bush, Sr. being behind the assassination
attempt on Reagan that cropped up when he ran for office. Or the
stories about Bush, Sr. flying an SR-71 to Iran just weeks before
Reagan's election to make sure the hostages weren't released until after
the election.

I'm not saying that aren't incorrect anti-conservative rumors that are circulated, only that there is a large body of evidence of a large, coordinated and consistent right-wing effort to make up what ever lies will make their opponents look bad.
