Since UNC is operating under "Adverse Weather Condition I" I drove from
Durham to Chapel Hill about 45 minutes ago. NOT RECOMMENDED!!! As of
8:00 am the roads, including major roads like University Drive in
Durham and Hwy 54 from I40 to Chapel Hill were neither salted nor
cleared. They were passable with extreme caution and were pretty
slippery. There are also enough idiots out there driving, making it
particularly dangerous. There was a mix of people doing 20 mph to 40+
mph on Hwy. 54 this morning, and frankly, I was very surprised I didn't
see more cars in ditches or any accidents.
If you don't HAVE TO go out, don't do it. Even though I am sort of
supposed to be at work today, since the University it "open", I am
seriously thinking about bowing out once rush hour time is over with and
see if I can get myself home safely and then watch all those DVDs I have
been meaning to watch.

How about that snow! We've apparently got 2 inches here in
Durham, and
it is still coming down.
