My reading of this error is you tried to send email to an SMTP server that
requires a "POP before sending" security scheme. This allows the server to
use the passwords in the POP server to make sure that your client has the
right to be using the servers, but yet not require a username/password for
the sendmail server.

You might try simply getting your email before attempting to send.

The only complication to this migh be "Using an unknown transport". You
should
make sure that the POP server and the SMTP server names have been typed in
the right places.
