food in Asheville:

- Pizza: Mellow Mushroom on Broadway - where else could you get
artichoke hearts on whole wheat springwater crust, and about 50
different beers? while gaping at the freaks abounding around you?

- Vegetarian: Laughing Seed on Wall Street - freaks grow up, become
vegan yuppies, and come here to dine on all the finest hardcore hippie
food.
Downstairs: Jack of the Wood Brewpub, microbrewed beers and a "real"
Celtic pub atmosphere. Saw a real honest-to-goodness bar brawl here St.
Patty's Day 2 yrs ago. often has great celtic & bluegrass music.

- Cajun/Indian (don't ask): Flying Frog Cafe, haywood st. across from
Malaprops. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ but good.

- Irish pubgrub: Hannah Flanagan's, Biltmore Ave. down from Mast
General Store & Pack Square. Eat bangers n mash, beer-battered fish n
chips. Drink drink drink! Nice patio, too.

- Breakfast etc: Stoney Knob Cafe, out Merrimon/US19-23, between Woodfin
& Weaverville. The hidden treasure of the north side of town.

- Rio Burrito, up the street from the 'Shroom, is a lot like Cosmic
Cantina, an SF-style burrito shop.

- Vegetarian quick & smoothies: Cafe Max & Rosie's, the tempeh
quesadilla is awesome. Come on Saturday afternoon to consult with the
psychic over your smoothie.

Never been able to get into Salsa's, always too damn crowded. Same for
the Noodle Shop on Pack Square. Melanie's Food Fantasy has good
breakfast, but it is sooooo crowded it's hard to enjoy and be mellow as
a good breakfast should be. Places I have't tried yet but want to:
Early Girl Eatery on Wall St, Jae (the new 100% organic place beside
EarthFare).

:-)
