I can't say enough good things about my gas
smoker/grill combo. My father has had one for years
and loved it so much he gave one to me as a gift.
Here is the link to the new model with a side-rack:

http://www.masterbuilt.com/shop/SMM7.html

In addition to looking really cool, sort of like R2-D2
from Star Wars, it has a *lot* of cooking capacity. I
wood smoked two whole (large) turkeys for Thanksgiving
that got rave reviews. On the other hand, it handles
one or two steaks perfectly.

In case you've never used a dome smoker, this thing
has three main parts. The tripod burner can be used
for a number of things- real wok cooking, turkey
frying, etc. The middle tier is used for normal
high-heat grilling of steaks, etc. Add the third tier
and you have a two-story smoker that's great for NC
BBQ, or anything else you desire. (I smoke two Pork
Butts at a time for BBQ). There is a water pan used
for smoking that catches fat drippings and reduces the
carcinogenic PAH emissions of cooked meat. I use real
hard wood chips (available in a lot of stores now).

Previously, I had a Sunbeam rectangular gas grill with
side burner. It was fine for grilling, but you
couldn't adjust the heat low enough for smoking
(180-200 F for several hours). Also, the footprint on
the porch as about twice that of the dome smoker.

If you want more info. offline, let me know. Being a
native North Carolinian, I can't refuse a discussion
about BBQ :-).
