We all know the economy sucks right now and jobs are few and far between. I have a hypothetical question for you...
Knowing that many companies are cash strapped, if a company is interested in negotiation with you for a job, what kind of perks would you ask for? Car, phone, 3 weeks vacation, flex time, gas allowance, laptop??? Negotiation is an art, and I usually end up with less 'benefits' than my co-workers because I did not cut a good deal, or when I do cut a deal, the employer backs out after I'm hired.
Like Lynn, I've only been half looking for a job. I enjoy being a full time homesteader, but Skyguy would prefer that I work. I've been thinking about what I would ask for. Do you think it is prudent to try to make any kind of bargain with the economy so tough and jobs so scarce? Unemployment is very high here, and if someone were to call, do I just accept a job with no bargaining just to have one, even though I really would prefer to stay home, is that stupid? Where is the fine line?
