But it fits. From the Slavic translation of the Greek "basileus" (tsar). Although frequently believed to be from "ceasar" to czar. With a definition/synonym of "potentate" (a ruler uncontrained by law, one who dominates or leads a group, one who has the power and position to rule over others).

Teflon's intent is potentate.

BTW, there are groups in the U.S. that actively work to make the U.S. a theocracy and they do want to bring back flogging <g>

LOL, yeah...
I know it came from Caesar, but growing up during the days of the evil
Soviets, when I think tsar/czar I think of pre-Soviet Russian
dictator-kings, or someone who is above the law-laws don't apply to him.
We probably should find a new buzz word for czars.

Seriously, I do think we are going a bit overboard on the number of
czars. It really does disrupt the balance of power making the executive
branch heavy.
